Happy Holidays and best wishes for you and your families this holiday season!!!

December Story:

Today was a typical day. Paperwork in the morning; followed by showing homes in the afternoon. My client and I bopped from home to home, and I had dressed with multiple layers to make sure I stayed warm. Most of the homes on our list today were foreclosures which meant, they averaged twenty degrees cooler than outside.

My client found the house that he loved and that felt like home and we decided to find a warmer place to sit down and go over the necessary paperwork. So we got into our cars, played another round of follow the leader and went to a nearby restaurant. My client headed inside to find us a seat because I needed a few extra minutes to gather paperwork before heading inside. Once paperwork was gathered, I grabbed the handle to step back into the cold…or so I thought.

Nothing happened. I tried the handle again, but the door would not release. I just sat there puzzled. I smiled at myself and thought,… perhaps I am having a blonde moment and forgot to unlock the door. Nothing. I didn’t know what to do, so I crawled across the seat and got out of the car by the passenger door! I was soooo embarrassed. I went inside, met with my client, wrote up the offer, forgetting for a brief moment my new dilemma. After we departed, I got into my car and headed back home. But when I got to the driveway, I parked and was once again at a loss. My door wouldn’t open!

I was baffled. I called my mechanic. He could take a look at my car in a couple of days, but I had appointments with clients lined up every day for the next seven days and I couldn’t cancel them not knowing how long my car would be incapacitated. So I set it up for the end of the following week. The next seven days were very complicated. One could just not park the car and get out. Ohhhh no, it wouldn’t be that easy. It was now a multiple step process…..

Step one: Park the car

Step two: Roll down the driver side window (whether it is super cold outside, raining or snowing)

Step three: Open the door from the outside handle

Step four: Roll up window

Step five: Turn off the car

Step six: Finally get out of the car.

Frustrating is what it was, but my clients definitely had a good laugh when they not only heard the story but were able to witness it!

Lesson: Appreciate the small things in life, even if it is just the handle to a door ;)
